MERSD Plans for the Use of ESSER III Grant Funds

The use of ESSER III funds will respond to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students, especially those disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic including:

• students from low-income families
                              •  students of color
                              •  English learners
                              •  students with disabilities
                              •  students experiencing homelessness
                              •  students in foster care
                              •  migratory students
                              •  students who are incarcerated
                              •  other underserved students
  
  The Manchester Essex Regional School District has reserved 20% of the ESSER III allocation to address learning loss as a result of COVID-19 educational disruptions. This part of the funding supports diagnostic assessments and interventions.

We will enhance core instruction through:

• The implementation of diagnostic assessments and associated lessons will be used as a tool to identify specific learning gaps and implement targeted interventions.
• Providing data cycle professional development is a key element of the implementation of the new assessment system.

We will develop partnerships to ensure successful implementation of educational technology.

We will support Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programming and Mental Health Services by assigning:

• A coordinator and lead teachers for SEL
• Additional counseling personnel

We will reduce Food Insecurity by providing equal access and ensuring good nutrition for all students.

We will allocate ESSER funds to meet students’ needs across the district. The district is implementing equitable services both in academics and social-emotional learning.

The district nursing staff will provide families with vaccination sites locally to support families in accessing vaccinations.
