Who We Are
The MERSD School Committee, as a representative body, consists of nine Committee members. Seven Committee members are elected by voters from their respective towns and hold office for a period of three years. Of these seven voting members, four represent Manchester and three represent Essex. MERSD Superintendent Pam Beaudoin and MERSD Operations & Finance Director Michelle Cresta serve as the eighth and ninth members and are non-voting members. Member Directory
There are four subcommittees: Elementary Facilities Subcommittee, Finance Subcommittee, Policy&Program Subcommittee, and the Negotiation Team. Subcommittees typically meet monthly, or more frequently as needed.
What We Do
The School Committee is responsible for establishing the educational goals and policies that will guide the District Committee, administration, and staff, including employing a Superintendent who will implement its policies. The Committee is also responsible for recommending a budget for approval at our members’ Annual Town Meetings.
