    St. John’s Church Gloucester - Filming Sunday Morning Church Services 

    Use your digital skills and creativity to film and distribute (Facebook, YouTube, Cape Ann Cable) the Sunday morning church service, so that our elder parishioners, shut-ins and friends may participate in worship. The commitment is 1-2 Sundays per month from 9:30-11am, plus editing. We are a welcoming community, and we have the best coffee hour treats on Cape Ann! Training provided.     Manchester Community Center 21st Annual Community Clean-Up

    Bring your community spirit and help beautify our town on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 am-12:00 noon! Even if you can only spare an hour, we can use your help. We’ll provide the gloves, bags, water, and snacks and have a pizza lunch and Captain Dusty’s ice cream for anyone who participates. Individuals and groups interested in volunteering sign up by calling or emailing the MCC.     Friends of Manchester-Essex Performing Arts (FOMEPA) 

    Friends of Manchester-Essex Performing Arts is seeking volunteers for several upcoming events on Thursdays, Mar 7, Mar 14, Apr 4, May 2, May 9 and May 16 from 5:30-8:00 pm. All events are at MERHS and begin at 6:00 pm. They are asking for volunteers and donations to arrive by 5:30 pm. They would love some help with concessions and T-shirts tables.     Singing and Announcing for the MERHS Baseball Team  

    MERHS Baseball Team seeks student volunteers to assist with the singing of the National Anthem before games as well as a student to assist with announcing the players (speaker and microphone provided) and walk-up songs for the players and between inning music.     Manchester Community Center Annual Easter Egg Hunt  

    The Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Manchester Community Center at Masconomo Park is Saturday, March 30 from 9:00-11:00 am but volunteers are needed earlier at 8:00 am to help set up (decorate the Gazebo and set up for the children’s craft). During the event, you will help with the children’s craft and games. At the end, help clean up and bring everything back to the Manchester Community Center (MCC).     Easter Bunny and Friend for Manchester Community Center Annual Easter Egg Hunt  

    Be the Easter Bunny or be the Friend of the Easter Bunny at the Manchester Community Center Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30. The volunteer Easter Bunny must come to the MCC to try on the Bunny costume before the event. Both the Bunny and the Friend must be at the fire station in Manchester by 9:55 A.M. the day of the event. The Fire Truck will transport you both to Masconomo Park to visit with children for half an hour and then transport you back to the station where you will leave the Bunny suit.     ENGin (Helping Ukraine Speak to the World)  

    ENGin pairs Ukrainian youth with volunteers from around the world to conduct weekly online speaking sessions, helping them connect with the global community by empowering them to speak fluent, conversational English. Their work breaks down borders to generate Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction and longer-term economic and social development. They screen every learner and volunteer and provide training and orientation. Participants are matched 1-on-1 based on preferences, interests, and availability.     Counselor in Training Program at Pathways for Children   

    At the Gloucester location, 29 Emerson Ave. for student volunteers grades 10-12 (16+ years of age). CITs will be assigned to support the after-school program at Pathways, working with children between the ages of 5-12. Completion of a volunteer application and passing of a background check is required. Days can vary based on your availability and hours can be anywhere between 2:30-5:30 pm.     iconnect2u PROJECT   

    MERHS student Jack Cummins is seeking volunteers to join him for his iconnect2u project visiting nursing homes and creating personalized posters for residents. Students joining this winter can continue throughout 2024. Two types of volunteers are needed: 1) Student Designers to create e-poster designs based on information provided about nursing home individuals in visit questionnaires. No prior skills are needed as training can be provided. The work can be done at home at the student's convenience but should be completed within 1 week of receiving the assignment 2) Student Ambassadors to design posters and also participate in visits to meet the nursing home residents prior to creating the posters and/or help meet the nursing home residents when we deliver them.     Seeking MERHS student volunteers for general assistance on Saturday, March 30, 7:30 am-11:00 am. Set up from 7:30-8:30, general help while kids are there 8:30-10:00 (giving out goodies, collecting empty eggs, etc.) and clean up after (done by 11:00).     Community Solar Eclipse Party at Essex Elementary School - Photo Booth Prop Creation 

    The EES Class of 2024 (fifth graders) is hosting a community party for the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. Seeking four MERHS student volunteers immediately in advance of the event to use their artistic and crafting talents to create a fun set of photo booth props. We are hoping to have a team of volunteers to be in contact in advance to discuss possibilities, then make and execute a plan. All materials need to be completed by April 5. If volunteers are available to help set it all up the day of the event, then great, but not required.
